British Values

Hinchley Wood School is a committed promoter of British Values and we actively seek to deliver a holistic approach towards the development of our students as local, British, European and International citizens.  As such, we aim to instil fundamental British values of democracy, mutual respect and a genuine understanding of the perspectives and experiences of others. In lessons and in social time, you will see students reflecting those values. They are kind, they seek to understand each other and to look after each other.

Spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of our students underpins everything that we do. We have a strongly taught curriculum coupled with highly effective PSHCE curriculum. Regular Enrichment and House Days in all year groups bring students together in wide variety of workshops and activities.   The rules of Law, individual liberty and the importance of making a positive contribution are reinforced and celebrated throughout the curriculum.  We value the diverse ethnic backgrounds of all students and families and undertake a variety of events and lessons to celebrate these. Our various student bodies provide a platform and voice for all of our students. 

As part of our holistic approach to British Values, we ensure that they are embedded within our curriculum. The table below provides a snapshot of this but is by no means exhaustive:
