This afternoon we have met our exchange partners again, met the mayor, been on the roof of the town hall to look at the City, had our photo taken for the local paper and now the partners have collected our students to go back to their families. Lessons at 7.45 tomorrow morning!

The House System

The House System at Hinchley Wood School

We have four houses at Hinchley Wood School, Hawking, Frank, Nightingale and King - all named after inspirational people.  Membership of the houses is divided across the tutor groups and all years groups within the school. The aims of the house system are:

  • To give students opportunities to challenge themselves in new pursuits
  • To enable students to work with different people across the school
  • To develop new skills such as leadership
  • To recognise and celebrate students’ achievements over and above their academic studies
Frank     Luther king
Frank House is named after the inspirational young girl Anne Frank.   Luther King house is named after the American Civil Rights campaigner.
Nightingale     Hawking
Nightingale House is named after the pioneering Florence Nightingale.    Stephen Hawking is the inspiration behind Hawking House
