It's the final evening of our fantastic Spanish exchange 😢. A great day today in Barcelona, visiting La Padrera and the Boqueria Market. Tonight is our last chance to have delicious tapas (& for Mrs Martin to scoff even more Patatas Bravas!) Thanks to everyone !

Record breaking GCSE results for HWS!

Record breaking GCSE results for HWS!

Records have been smashed at Hinchley Wood School this summer as Year 11 students have surpassed all expectations with some outstanding GCSE results.

Students set a new record of 86% of the cohort achieving 5 or more C+ grades including a new Grade 4 or better in English and Maths.  For the first time in the school’s history more than 90% of the cohort achieved a C Grade or better in 5 or more GCSE subjects.   The excellent GCSE results show the high standards and expectations for learning the school has of all its students and Hinchley Wood students of all abilities will be celebrating this afternoon.

With more than a third of all GCSE outcomes graded at A*/A or better, there have been some outstanding individual performances this summer.

Ben Bartlett, Headteacher, said:

“I am delighted for our Year 11 students who have worked so hard. Our students have shown fortitude and resilience and risen to the challenge of the new GCSE examinations in English and Maths.  Their diligence, commitment and hard work, supported by the guidance of parents/carers and an outstanding body of teaching and associate staff have produced excellent results across the school.  On behalf of the whole school community, I would like to congratulate all our students in the Class of 2017.”
