Will never forget meeting an Auschwitz survivor. Will never forget the tattoo on her arm or her story

PRE visit: excellent exhibition at the Galicia Jewish museum followed by student workshops and a meeting with an Auschwitz survivor, a former child prisoner who was a subject of Dr Mengele's experiments, who told us about her story and showed us her number tattoo. Very moving. https://t.co/ZwCqYSY32K

This will be one of the most memorable school trips Hinchley Wood students will make in their school years.

Old Hinchley Woodians

CALLING ALL FORMER STUDENTS!

We are delighted to be launching Hinchley Wood School Alumni community, ‘Old Hinchley Woodians’ through which we hope to connect with former students and provide a platform for reuniting old friends.

Sign up through Future First

If you are a former student of Hinchley Wood School, we want to hear from you!  Your experiences since leaving could help to motivate and inspire our current students to feel more confident in making decisions about their future.  We would love you to join our alumni network and stay connected with the school.

We have partnered with the national education charity Future First, who specialise in helping schools like ours stay in touch with their former students.  It doesn’t matter when you left us, whether you are in further education, in employment or retired, whether you still live nearby or have moved away, there are still ways you can connect with the school and we would love to stay in touch.

In order to sign up, just follow this link and fill in the online form – it only takes a couple of minutes.

https://networks.futurefirst.org.uk/former-student/hinchley

Once you have registered with Future First you can  ask to join our official Old Hinchley Woodians Facebook group through this link https://www.facebook.com/groups/509408409221230/

Keeping in Touch

By keeping in touch with HWS, former students are able to reconnect and maintain links with their peers, receive news of the school and upcoming events and hear about how our Campaigns will benefit future generations of students. In addition to communication through The Old Hinchley Woodians you can also find out what’s going on at the school by looking at our website or by following us on Twitter @hinchleywschool.  We will be organising a programme of reunions and are happy to help former students organise their own events, or get back in touch with their peers. Our launch event for our Old Hinchley Woodians (“OHW”) alumni programme will be in October 2016 with our OHW Garden Party reunion including afternoon tea – details will be published soon.

Helping the School

We are fortunate that many former students are able to help the school, either financially or by offering work experience or careers advice. We organise a Careers Fair every year and Corporate Breakfast meetings in the summer term and are always keen to find people willing to offer advice and work experience, or speak to students in small groups.  Do get in touch if you are able to help.

We are always delighted to see former students at the school and if you would like an informal visit, please do contact the Fundraising Manager, Lisa McCarthy on 020 8398 7161 ext 178 email:  lmccarthy@hinchleywoodschool.co.uk
