During half term, our GCSE History students enjoyed a highly successful and enriching trip to Berlin, deepening their understanding of 20th-Century history through first-hand experience. Over four days, students explored key sites connected to the Weimar Republic, Nazi Germany, and the Cold War. Highlights included visits to the Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag, the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe, and the Berlin Wall Memorial at Bernauer Straße.
Students also participated in guided tours of the Sachsenhausen Memorial, gaining valuable insight into the human impact of totalitarianism and the importance of protecting human rights. Throughout the trip, students demonstrated maturity, curiosity, and thoughtful engagement with challenging historical themes.
The visit not only enriched students’ exam studies but also encouraged reflection on the relevance of history in today’s world. Staff were incredibly proud of the students’ conduct and enthusiasm, and we look forward to offering similar educational experiences in the future.
