On Thursday 16th October, 50 Year 8 students took on the challenge of a lifetime! Inspired by the Rentstart annual SleepOut, 52 brave students swapped their warm beds for two cardboard boxes and a night under the stars, all to raise awareness of homelessness.
With no phones, no tech, and no home comforts, pupils experienced what it’s like to face a night outdoors. Although the weather was kind, the chilly October air made it a true test of resilience, and our students rose to the occasion!
The next morning, they were treated to a well-earned breakfast and hot chocolate, before getting ready for a day of lessons in full school uniform — a powerful reminder of how difficult it can be to maintain normal life without a stable home.
We are immensely proud of every student who took part. The experience was moving, eye-opening, and humbling, offering both staff and students a deeper understanding that homelessness can affect anyone.

A huge shout out to Miss Martinez, Mr Bartlett, Dr Whitehouse, Mr Cartlidge-LLewellyn and Mr Amos for supporting the students throughout this event.
