PUNCH -  Drama staff and students at HWS were wowed by this 5* performance. Yr 10 to 13 Drama students experienced the captivating, heart-rending and tragic story of Punch at the Apollo Theatre. The exhilarating and thought-provoking production left us all moved beyond words.

The Phantom of the Opera treated Hinchley Wood Sixth Form to a phenomenal performance of the iconic musical this week. Students were wowed by the incredible performance and production qualities, followed by an incredible technical demonstration and Q&A with the Cast and Crew.

Today, we were thrilled to welcome Year 6 pupils from TDJS for our Festival of Languages! HWS students led a fun-filled carousel of languages — from learning school subjects in Spanish and animals in Japanese, to months of the year in Arabic and food and sport in Italian!

Last night 50  amazing Year 8 students took on the challenge of a lifetime! Inspired by the  annual SleepOut, they swapped their warm beds for cardboard boxes and a night under the stars to experience life without a home.

New school records at A Level A* and A grades!

We are delighted to report our headline A Level results:

  • 14% of all grades were A*  - a new school record (9.3% nationally)
  • 37% of all grades were A* - A  - another new school record (27.6% nationally)
  • 64% of grades awarded A*- B
  • 86% of grades awarded A*- C (76% nationally)
  • 99% of grades awarded A*- E (97% nationally)

A few individuals to highlight are:

  • Milo B and Ellis T who achieved 4A*s
  • Mateo D and Leo F who achieved 3A*s and 1 A grade
  • Antony C and Barney G who achieved 3A*s
  • And a further eight students have achieved 2 A*s and an A grade
  • Will C who secured a highly sought-after Level 6 apprenticeship at Ernst Young.

At the time of writing, 81 students have secured their first choice place and 8 students have secured their insurance place from a total of 99 UCAS applications.

These outstanding results reflect the hard work and resilience of our students, as well as the outstanding dedication and support from the staff at Hinchley Wood.
