On Monday 28th April, we took two rugby teams to The Stoop to compete in the U14 Emerging Schools Competition.
The Year 9 boys played two strong games. They opened with a 19-0 win over Kingsdale School, showcasing an excellent defensive performance. In their second match, they drew 12-12 with Graveney School, conceding a try in the final moments. The boys have made great progress throughout the season, and these were without doubt their best performances of the year.
The Year 8 girls had the opportunity to play their first ever contact matches — and they did so against tough opposition. Both opposing teams were made up almost entirely of Year 9 students, but what our girls lacked in size, they made up for in determination and spirit. They tackled bravely and scored some brilliant tries in their second game. Although they were beaten by an experienced Graveney School in the first match, and narrowly lost to Royal Alexandra and Albert in the final seconds of the second, the girls thoroughly enjoyed the experience and are excited to play again next year.
