We are delighted to share that our students achieved outstanding success at the SATRO Problem Solving Challenge held at St John the Baptist School on 12th March. Both our KS3 and KS4 teams secured first place in their respective heats, while our KS5 team achieved an impressive third place. As a result, the KS3 and KS4 teams have qualified for the Grand Final on 23rd April—an excellent accomplishment.
During the competition, students were given just 90 minutes to design and build a self-propelled vehicle capable of transporting “liquid nitrogen” (represented by a bottle of water) as quickly as possible. This proved to be a highly demanding engineering challenge.
We were incredibly impressed by the students’ creativity, teamwork, and positive attitude throughout. One of the key challenges they faced was that the motor provided did not generate sufficient torque, requiring them to think innovatively and develop effective gearing systems to enable movement.
Congratulations to all the students involved on their hard work and ingenuity—we look forward to the Grand Final!
