On Wednesday 17th December, a group of our Year 7, 8 and 9 students brought a wonderful burst of energy to the Dementia Group at the Claygate Centre for the Community. Their bright smiles and joyful carol singing filled the room with warmth and it was especially moving to see how familiar Christmas melodies sparked moments of connection, comfort and happiness. Music plays a powerful role in the lives of people living with dementia—unlocking memories, lifting spirits and opening the door to conversations that might otherwise feel out of reach. As a special surprise for our students, some of the residents had formed a 'Dementia Choir' so they could sing back a medley of Christmas songs.
Our students’ kindness, enthusiasm and beautiful voices made a genuine difference. Their performance was warmly received, and we are incredibly proud of the compassion and maturity they showed throughout the visit. A huge well done to everyone involved for helping spread festive joy.
