Posted on: 25/03/2026Year 8 Explore Ecosystems at Kew Gardens
On 25th March, our Year 8 students visited Kew Gardens as part of their Ecosystems unit, enjoying a day full of hands-on learning and botanical discovery.
The visit began with a session led by Kew staff, teaching students how to collect data in the Rainforest biome. Students then had the chance to put their new skills into practice while exploring the Palm House greenhouse. After lunch, they were guided around the Treetop Walkway and into the Temperate House, taking on the role of ‘plant detectives’ to identify the ‘smelliest plant’ and the plant ‘furthest from home.’
Students excelled at the challenge, impressively identifying plants—even ones with tricky names—and left the day bursting with new knowledge. A huge thank you to all the staff who made this fantastic day possible!
